HUMAN MAKES MOVIE WITH OTHER HUMANS
Human factory employee MARK OSBORNE© was permitted leave HAPPY PRODUCT, INC’s factory compound to direct his live-action feature film debut DROPPING OUT, written by and starring his brother, Kent Osborne. The film also starred David Koechner, John Stamos, Vince Vieluf, Adam Arkin, Fred Willard among others (with a cameo by “Weird Al” Yankovic!). DROPPING OUT Premiered at THE SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL in 2000.
In a recent interview, MARK OSBORNE© explains:
“Dropping Out is about a bored guy living in the San Fernando valley whose most interesting quality is that he is suicidal. He decides to make his mark on the world. He’s going to videotape his suicide, mail it to his girlfriend, and basically be done with it. “Friends” – “Friends” in air quotes – rally around him, tell him: “Can you wait a couple of days, we’re going to get some background material?” And it basically snowballs into a huge project. It’s a kind of ironic story about someone finding the will to live through not wanting to live any longer.”

HAPPY PRODUCT(S) IN THE NEWS
HAPPY PRODUCT INC’s human factory employee MARK OSBORNE© talks to Animation World Network about the creation of his Academy Award© nominated short film MORE.

“When I embarked on my new film MORE, I approached it from a very basic and unassuming angle: I wanted to tell a story. What ultimately made this film a different type of journey to embark upon, was that we were breaking ground by telling a stop motion story on the Giant Screen, 70mm/15perf, or IMAX format as it commonly known, for the first time.”
